THIS TRIP WILL HAVE 6 HOURS of HIKING CHALLENGING TERRAIN FOR 4 STRAIGHT DAYS

Described by National Geographic as one of the 50 places you should visit and perched on the northern slope of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the ‘Ciudad Perdida’ or “Lost City”. Recently discovered in 1972, it is one of the largest pre-Colombian towns in the Americas and its origin is believed to be from 800 AD, some 650 years before Machu Pichu. Be one of the few to visit this remarkable archaeological site with its stepped terraces, built by ancient Tayrona Indians and hidden in lush and dense tropical vegetation. The tour entails scenic and serene treks of moderate level traversing rivers and hiking fairly steep climbs and descents for 4 days and 3 nights. A palm specialist will accompany you throughout your incredible journey. Then experience the best of Tayrona National Park lodging in the ecohabs. To chill out, enjoy the incredible beach before ending your experience with an exclusive tour of Tayrona by Park managers. One of Colombia's most popular national parks, Tayrona grips the Caribbean coast in a jungle bear hug at the foot of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The park stretches along the coast from the Bahía de Taganga near Santa Marta to the mouth of the Río Piedras, 35km to the east, and covers some 12,000 hectares of land and 3000 hectares of sea. The scenery varies from sandy beaches along the coast in the north to rainforest at an altitude of 900m on the southern limits of the park. The extreme western part is arid, with light-brown hills and xerophytic plant species such as cacti. The central and eastern parts of the park are wetter and more verdant, largely covered by rainforest. At least 56 endangered species call the park home.

Ecuador Mashpi Reserve Palm Tour & Galapagos Island Cruise/ Tour Experience

Fly to Quito Ecuador and spend a full day of palm viewing in the Mashpi Reserve before flying to Galapagos. The Galapagos Islands rank among the world’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. Although everywhere in the world is ‘unique’, the islands are that much more unique than other places due to the archipelago’s isolation over millennia. Here, species have evolved amid the stark volcanic landscapes into new and apparently strange forms that exist nowhere else on the planet. Not only that, the creatures one encounters are fearless of humans. It’s a truly magical place. The Islands were named after the giant Galapagos tortoises that looked similar to the galapago Spanish saddle to the first explorers in the 16th century. The archipelago began to emerge above a volcanic hotspot in the Pacific Ocean six million years ago. Your journey will begin in Quito for a half day tour, then next day fly to Galapagos to board your yacht for an incredible adventure through the Northern islands.

The trip includes: 7 days, 6 nights, national flights between Quito and the Galapagos Islands, transfers, English speaking guide, hotel lodging  2 nights in Quito, 4 nights on the luxury yacht- La Pinta, transportation, baggage handling, breakfast daily, 6 lunches, 6 dinners, required National park foreigner fee and transit control card. The tour ends in Quito.

* Note: Note June 9-15 2018 trip has been added for those who wish to go to Galapagos Islands after another post tour.
